Coconut Old Fashioned

The classic gets a slight tropical note thanks to coconut syrup for flavour and a fat-washed spirit for texture

What you need
Serve in a Old fashioned (large tumbler) glass
Garnish Orange zest
Ingredients
How to make

Stir the first 3 ingredients in the glass without ice until sugar dissolves. Add ice and bourbon and stir again

To make the coconut-washed Maker's Mark, shake 50 to 60g of melted coconut oil with 70cl bourbon, then leave the mixture to sit for a few hours, shaking occasionally. Chill the mixture. After a couple of hours remove the now hardened fat, filter the solids out (coffee filters will work) and the remaining spirit will have been infused with a richer, rounder texture and a subtle flavour
