Not to be confused with the Blue Hawaiian, another blue, rum-based drink, confusingly, the Blue Hawaii was invented in 1957 by Harry Yee, head bartender of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Hawaii for a Bols rep that wanted to show off their blue liqueur
